If you're looking for a sunny, safe and absolutely gorgeous winter getaway, look no further than Costa Rica. You will fall in love with the rainforests, mountains and beaches, the rich Costa Rican coffee beans and the easy accessibility to a country full of vibrancy. The Central Standard time zone makes it an easy transition from the hustle of everyday American life to international vacation mode. We've flown both Jet Blue and Delta into San José, Costa Rica. The airport is updated, clean, comfortable, and easy to navigate.
About 30 minutes from the airport, in the foothills of Alajuela, next to San José, is a luxury vacation rental called Casa Cielo Grande. The property consists of four separate rentals that have all been updated to American standards and maintained with perfection. Each rental hosts a fully-stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, living, dining, and bedroom spaces. Check out their website costaricabigsky.com for photos of the interior.
If you are planning to explore the beaches of Costa Rica, this is a great first and last night accommodation. However, we will say, once you're there, you might want to stay put and enjoy the amazing views of San José and Alajuela while lounging poolside.
One thing to mention are the amazing care takers, Daniel and Andrea. They are Costa Rican expert guides and gracious hosts. We arranged an airport pick-up and drop-off with Daniel prior to arriving. They are great at pointing you in the right direction for activities like zip-lining, beaches, hikes, meals, and transportation. Thanks, Daniel and Andrea!
Fruit trees, flowers, birds, and butterflies welcome you to your home away from home.
Within a ten minutes drive from the Casa Cielo Grande, you can get to a fantastic grocery store, coffee plantation, and local restaurants
We've just booked our trip back to beautiful Casa Cielo Grande this winter and can't wait to explore more of this beautiful country called Costa Rica.
Pura Vida!
